Oct. Five Picks
October is my birthday month, so my local picks include a few ways I’m planning to treat myself. But there’s a personal reason behind these choices, too. SALT Wellness supported my Mother’s Day giveaway launch without even knowing me and when I had nothing to show yet. They took a chance on me when they could have easily said no and turned me away. I love their business model and what they stand for, and I’ve wanted to try their services for a long time.
Larissa, with Premier Beauty also supported that launch, and another lash lift and tint with her is on my birthday wish list! I got one this summer and loved skipping waterproof mascara on pool days. Most mornings, I’m in my mom uniform, saving makeup for meetings or church. It was such a simple way to feel a little more put together on makeup-free days, especially when a morning at home unexpectedly turned into an afternoon out and about.
323 Bakery and La Paloma both contributed to our bake sale, and Lisa with La Paloma worked the ENTIRE event. The very next weekend, 323 contributed significantly to Kerr Kids’ Day of Play, showing up for our community two weekends in a row.
East End Pizza rounds out my October Five! They donated pizza to keep our card- and sign-making crew fueled ahead of the bake sale. Now, a pizza night or their Saturday pasta night is on my birthday wish list. One more reason to keep my birthday plans local. 🍕
My hope with this series is that you’ll think back on the businesses you’ve seen showing up for our community and consider showing up for them the next time you shop, book a service, or grab a treat. That’s what Keep Kerrville Kickin’ is all about: after back-to-back floods, our local businesses and organizations need our support more than ever, even if the water never reached their doors.
