Like so many of you, my heart has been with everyone affected by the flooding this week.

As our community begins taking those first steps toward recovery, you'll probably notice Kerrville Family Guide finding its rhythm again. This week's newsletter reflects that, with a few important recovery resources and several vetted ways to make a direct impact in our community.

Kerrville Family Guide is still very much a grassroots project. Growing an engaged community of local parents allows me to be intentional about who I partner with, so every business featured here is one I genuinely believe brings value to local families.

A quick note about this week's calendar: I've left the calendar largely as-is and updated the events I know have been canceled or postponed.

→ Over the next week, please take a minute to verify details with the venue before heading out, as schedules may continue to change. I'm planning to check in with the Riverside Nature Center tomorrow about their upcoming events, but because they sustained flood damage again, it's very possible programs will be postponed or canceled. They are currently listed as closed on their website.

Looking ahead, next Saturday is shaping up to be a busy one if everything stays on schedule! Kid Fest at the Arcadia has been rescheduled for Saturday, along with the Kerr Kids Sourdough Workshop, the skateboard competition, the Mr. Beast Kids Workshop, and several other family events.

I'll continue updating the calendar as I receive confirmed changes.

🚨 If you were affected by recent flooding in Kerr County, you need to complete the state's official iSTAT Damage Survey. This helps local and state officials document damage to primary residences and businesses, which is required to unlock disaster assistance. If you weren’t affected, letting others know who were about this is a great way to help.

🍽️ If you are a Food & Beverage Worker and have been impacted by the floods (or know someone), please check out this organization that offers grants in times of need to those in the industry.

⚽️ The Tivy community is rallying around one of its own. A local family with student-athletes in soccer, cross country, and track had waist-deep water in their home, destroying clothing, furniture, household essentials, and treasured belongings.

🏡 The Cherwinski family lost their home, vehicles, and nearly everything they owned in the flooding. Friends describe them as the kind of family that's always there for others, and now they're the ones who need our community. 🥪 Greengrocer's Deli has been part of Kerrville for decades. The flooding impacted both their business and the home they have behind the deli. While our community has already shown up for them in an incredible way, they still have the overwhelming task of rebuilding both.
