Worth the Drive Weekend Pick: Oktoberfest in FBG!
Fredericksburg’s Oktoberfest has plenty for the kids, too. Make a stop at Kinder Park for games, prizes, and a jumping castle, then grab something to eat and catch the live music.
Festival hours:
Friday, Oct. 2: 6 p.m.–midnight
Saturday, Oct. 3: 10 a.m.–midnight
Sunday, Oct. 4: 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Kid tip: Kinder Park closes at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and runs the full festival hours on Sunday.

Sept Five Recap
Alright y’all we have made it through all 5 of our September picks. I want to talk a tad about Vecino’s Cafe. I know a lot of people know about this place but if you are in the grind of little toddler parenthood, you might be a to-go queen like me and be avoiding dining in at restaurants. I’ve only had tacos from their food truck awhile back while at an event. I have never dined there.
Well… we will back and often! We ordered off their $10 menu, which mentions it has smaller portions but they were plenty of food for us. It was actually the perfect size. The guacamole was so good and fresh and the quesadillas were a big hit with the kids. The tortillas were delicious. My husband and I got the Elote Bowls. He got chicken and I got Birria and it was so good.
This place felt more like a community gathering spot than a restaurant. It was so low key and relaxed. We didn’t get there in time to try it but I saw that had breakfast, including waffles, on the weekends until 11 a.m.
