First Things First
October Five Recap
A Little Treat Yourself, a Little Dinner Help
October took a few unexpected turns with my dad’s surgery and a death in the family, so a few of my October Five visits had to be postponed. So we’re kicking off November with a look at my October Five, from a new family dinner favorite to a little time for myself!
East End Pizza Co. Saturday Pasta Night was a hit with our whole family. The kids loved it, my husband has already been asking to go back, and the portions were huge. Between the delicious food, leftovers, and free arcade games, this is absolutely going into our family rotation.
SALT Wellness & Sports Recovery and Larissa Plaster at Premier Beauty both took a chance on KFG early, when I had very little to show, and I wanted to spend some time supporting them this month. At SALT, Barbie did my head spa and facial, and it was amazing. If you’ve seen those relaxing scalp treatments online, yes, we have one right here in Kerrville! My skin felt wonderful afterward, and I’m already excited for my next one!
SALT also offers massages, chiropractic care, Pilates, and more. For expecting, postpartum, or hopeful mamas, there are options worth exploring, too, including pelvic floor physical therapy with Dr. Katie Segner and fertility acupuncture with SALT’s acupuncturist. I haven’t tried their acupuncture services, but I had a positive experience with fertility acupuncture myself and traveled all the way to San Antonio for it. While that’s a different season of life for me now, I’m so glad families have that option here in Kerrville!
My appointment with Larissa moved into November when I had to reschedule, so I’m headed there tomorrow for a lash lift and tint. I’ve had it before and love how it makes my own lashes stand out, especially on mornings when I skip makeup. It’s a spring and summer must for me because I can enjoy the water without dealing with waterproof mascara! I highly recommend this service.
And for a little help in the kitchen: 323 Bakery’s chicken pot pie was fantastic. Pop it in the oven, and dinner is handled. I also ordered my Thanksgiving buttermilk pie from La Paloma Treats! Both have announced Thanksgiving preorders, so follow their Facebook pages and take a look at their menus. These two businesses were so generous in supporting our flood relief bake sale, and I’d love to send some support back their way.
November Five will include some local shop round ups for holiday gifts. I am still working on gift lists so stay tuned for those being announced on socials!

Community Highlight
Heart of the Hills Heritage Center
A teen needle felting workshop. Front Porch Friday. Archaeology Day. A homecoming lawn party. In just a few weeks, Heart of the Hills Heritage Center has given local families so many ways to learn, create, and enjoy our community, and they’re just getting started!
They’ve also welcomed local fourth graders and a micro-school for field trips, with a homeschool co-op visit coming up as well. And these are just some of their offerings for kids and families. Even if you haven’t attended an event yourself, your child may already be benefiting through their school or community group.
Let’s help them keep building on that momentum. Consider a family membership, a membership as a gift from a grandparent, or a business sponsorship. Have an extra $10 to give? That helps, too. Attending events shows there’s demand for these programs and helps demonstrate their community impact when seeking future funding.
And support doesn’t have to cost anything. Share an event, invite a friend, or help others discover their Facebook page. They’re putting so much into our community already. Let’s give them the support to keep growing.
