Kerrville Weekly Rundown

Schools Out. Kids Home. Buckle Up Y’all.

Summer is officially kicking off around Kerrville. The library’s summer reading program is getting underway, community art projects are popping up around town, and there are so many organizations working hard to create more family-friendly opportunities.

One of those is Kerr Kids and their Free Summer of Play campaign, which is helping fund additional free open play opportunities for local families this summer. If your family has ever benefited from spaces like this, even a small donation goes a long way toward keeping those doors open for more kids in our community. Head to their website to see more about how to help open the doors for summer!

Now onto this week’s picks, parent shortcuts, and local family plans.

This newsletter is brought to you buy Kerr Kids. Head here to book your FREE open play session.

Things to Do This Week

Midweek Double Dip Pick: There was WAY too much going on this week to pick just one weekday event, so I’m handing y’all two built-in Wednesday itineraries instead. Choose the library event that fits your crew best:

Littles Version

• History Center Storytime at the library | 10–11 a.m.
• Library playground energy burn for 30 minutes
• Heart of the Hills Heritage Center Hands-On History event at 11:30 a.m., Pizza provided + kids are free

Bigger Kids Version

• Heart of the Hills Heritage Center Hands-On History event at 11:30 a.m., Pizza provided + kids are free
• Library playground stop to burn off some energy
• Summer Reading Kickoff: Science event at the library 2 p.m.

Between the library events, the playground right there, and the Heritage Center being next door, this is midweek parent gold.

Weekend pick: Family Art History Weekend May 29–30 | 10 AM–2 PM | Ingram | Free Family Fun

A free, 2-day event packed with art, hands-on activities, live demos, music, face painting, nature walks, and more. Fun for all ages, plus pets on leash are welcome.

Worth the Drive: Puppy Pals Live at Rockbox Theater
Friday, May 29 | 5 PM | Fredericksburg

An action-packed stunt dog comedy show featuring mostly rescued dogs performing tricks, jumps, and audience-interactive fun for the whole family. Reserve tickets here.

Things I am loving this week

Water bounce worth every penny!

I grabbed this inflatable water bounce house last week on a flash sale for almost half off, and it has already been worth every penny. The little splash pool + double slides work so well for my kids’ age gap, and the neighborhood kids have played on it for hours every day so far. The flash sale is still going on right now, so run & snag it, throw a lawn chair in the shade, and let the kids wear themselves out for hours. Check it out here. *affiliate link
