Kate’s Picks

Things to Do This Week

Mid-Week Double Dip Pick:

On Thursday, head to Sprouts at the Riverside Nature Center at 10:30 (register for free ahead of time).

When it’s over head to the library playground to burn some energy and eat your packed picnic lunch OR stop off over at Pint & Plow for a bite to eat before heading to Lego/Duplo Club at 2 p.m. at the library.

Pint & Plow has one of our favorite kid meal offerings in town. We love the Junior Snack Plate but they also have lots of other options for all ages and of course a go-to for most any kid, pizza.

Weekend pick: Captain Cam's Youth Fishing Program 🎣
Saturday | 5-7 PM | Flat Rock Park | Free

Grab a fishing pole and head to the water for an evening of fishing, outdoor fun, and time with other local families. Whether your child is an experienced angler or just wants to give it a try, this is a relaxed way to spend a summer evening outdoors.

Worth the Drive: Texas Frontier Trail Adventure
Saturday, July 18 | 9:30 AM-1 PM | Fredericksburg | Ages 7-13 | $30

If your kids (or you 😆) ever loved The Oregon Trail, this one is right up their alley. Inspired by the classic game, young pioneers work in teams to cross rivers, trade supplies, manage resources, and navigate unexpected challenges along the Texas frontier. Parents are encouraged to stay and explore the historic site, Fort Martin Scott, while the adventure unfolds. Check in is at 9:15 a.m.

Registration is required, and spots are limited. Register here. Select Fort Martin Scott in the drop down.

What to do about Monday’s?

I have noticed there is a glaring hole in the calendar on Mondays. It is the by far the sparsest day in the event round ups. While this a fantastic reset day from the weekend, sometimes you just gotta get those kids out of the house. I rounded up some ideas. A few are local, a few are quick drive away.

Here’s where to go:

1. The Color Of Clay - Glaze a ready made item or make your own, but either way grab a punch card because your kids are gonna wanna go back. They also have daily or weekly day camps for drop-off (ages 7-14)

It is listed in the KFG Day Camp Roundup.

2. Carver Park Sprayground - Open six days a week from 10 - 7 for lots of water fun (closed on Tuesdays)

3. Kroc Center for $1 Water Park fun for Kerrville residents! 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

94. Level Up - Check out Level Up’s new location & concept!

4. Wild Oak Play in Comfort - Open M,W,F for two morning sessions: 9 a.m. session and an 11:30 a.m. session (Best for ages 0-6)

5. The Hive Collective in Fredericksburg - Summer Free Play Hours are:

Monday: 9–11am & 3–6pm

Tuesday: 3–6pm

Thursday: 9–11am & 3–6pm

FYI: On Tuesday’s they have a Drop & Shop for $5 from 1-3. It would be a great opportunity if you need a few hours to yourself.
